Go underground at Reed Gold Mine, site of America’s first discovery of gold. Explore the grounds where a 12-year-old boy came across a gold nugget weighing in at a whopping 17 pounds, make your way through restored underground tunnels and pan for gold. You can even keep what you find!
Cabarrus County includes the hometown of NASCAR racing legend Dale Earnhardt. A nine-foot, 900-pound statue of Dale stands in Downtown Kannapolis and is part of The Dale Trail self-guided tour where you can explore the racer’s life and legacy.
