Historic Cabarrus County Courthouse

The Historic 1876 Cabarrus County Courthouse is home to the Historic Cabarrus Association and the Cabarrus Arts Council.

Erected in 1876 and on the National Register of Historic Places, the courthouse is one of North Carolina’s finest late 19th-century public buildings. The building is a synthesis of the Greek Revival, Italianate, and Second Empire styles.

In addition to exploring the area’s heritage with the Historic Cabarrus Association, guests can visit to browse the current exhibition in The Galleries, purchase local art from the Gallery Gift Shop, and take in a performance inside the Davis Theatre. The Cabarrus Arts Council programs and operates the Davis Theatre and The Galleries, conducts one of North Carolina’s largest art-in-education programs for both the Cabarrus County and Kannapolis City school systems, supports arts organizations and artists through grants and workshops, and serves as a catalyst and consultant for public and corporate art.

Both the Historic Association and the Cabarrus Arts Council host events throughout the year, offering locals and visitors alike a variety of opportunities to actively engage with our area’s history and support the arts.
