Over Memorial Day weekend, special ceremonies and events that recognize the sacrifice of our nation’s heroes will take place across Cabarrus County. Visit the cities of Concord and Kannapolis and the town of Mount Pleasant to observe this day of remembrance.

Military Appreciation Night at Atrium Health Ballpark

Friday, May 23, 2025 – Kannapolis

Plan to visit Atrium Health Ballpark in downtown Kannapolis for Military Appreciation Night as the team honors our men and women in uniform and their sacrifice. Outfitted in specialty jerseys, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers will take on the Columbia Fireflies. Be sure to stick around after the game as a spectacular fireworks display lights up the evening sky.

Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Sunday, May 25, 2025 – Concord

This Memorial Day tradition honors the heroes of the United States Armed Forces. During the 66th running of the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, drivers will carry the names of fallen service members on their windshields, and fans will witness breathtaking military tributes, including aerial flyovers and a moving moment of silence at the race’s halfway point.

Taps Across America at ECHS

Monday, May 26, 2025 – Mount Pleasant

Since 2021, the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Society has participated in Taps Across America, the National Moment of Remembrance recognizing those who died in military service to the United States. The public is invited to join as the ceremony takes place on the ECHS Museum lawn. Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to ring the museum bell in memory of loved ones who died in service.

Memorial Day Program at Veterans Park

Monday, May 26, 2025 – Kannapolis

Bring a lawn chair to Veterans Park on Main Street in downtown Kannapolis for this Memorial Day event. Hosted by the American Legion in partnership with the City of Kannapolis, this annual program has featured a Veterans Parade, guest speakers, and special musical performances. The 2025 program is set for 12:00 p.m. Stay tuned for additional details.
