Reclaimed waterworks buildings that served the City for ninety years, providing water and later housing utility workers, are being revitalized. Artists can build their practice in leased studios, and the community can gain access to artists, artistic inspiration, and space for their events.
A Community Development Project of the City of Concord, ClearWater Artist Studios hosts 14 artists leasing studio space, as well as the Southern Piedmont Woodturners Club and the Cabarrus Art Guild. The large Main Gallery features rotating exhibits. Artists often give free Artist Talks at opening receptions and may also offer demonstrations or classes.
Drop-in hours in the main building are available on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and by appointment. ClearWater hosts a special event every second Saturday of the month, called 2nd Saturday Open Studios, where you can visit, meet resident artists, and see what they are working on.
Opened in November 2023, the Ceramics Center is outfitted with large spaces for group work and classes. The Ceramics Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with additional class times for students. For info about classes, workshops, and volunteering, visit the Ceramics Center page.
