Historic Gold Hill

Step back in time as you stroll along the wood sidewalks of the nineteenth century Gold Mining Capitol of North Carolina. The 70 acre Gold Hill Mines Historic Park and Village of Gold Hill are located in the heart of the Carolina Gold Rush Territory.
 
Gold Hill is located approx. 14 miles southeast of Salisbury, NC on US Hwy 52. An easy hour drive from Charlotte or Greensboro and only 30 mins. from Salisbury, Asheboro, Albemarle & Concord. Educational site and historic tours. 
 
First gold discovery here was 1824. Town est. 1843. Currently unincorporated, population 2861. The village boasts ten shops filled with antiques, home decor, bakery, floral gifts, original art and unique handmade gifts. Friday nights are special with Year-round Bluegrass music at the E.H. Montgomery General Store. During the spring and summer months the music spreads to other shops inside and outside around the village. The village shops are open Thurs-Sun 11am-5pm (with the exception of Friday nights at the Montgomery Store open til 9pm.)
