National Pie Day is January 23. What better place to celebrate than in Cabarrus County? In fact, Cabarrus County’s largest city, Concord, is the number seven city in America with the most bakeries per capita — 4.58, to be exact. So we rounded up some of the best spots in Cabarrus County to grab a slice (or a whole pie). Check out these mouthwatering photos from across Instagram.

DOUGH New York Style Bakery

DOUGH got its start at area farmer’s markets, and we sure are glad they became a staple in the Afton Village neighborhood. Along with this mouthwatering pie menu (just look at these flavors!), DOUGH offers the most delicious selection of cakes, cupcakes, cookies and specialty desserts– all made from scratch every day by New York City pastry chef, Dawn Adinolfe.

The Sweet Life

Also in Downtown Concord, The Sweet Life specializes in custom cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other special occasions. It has 50 cake and cupcake flavors including orange dreamsicle, PB&J, chocolate-covered cherry, and seasonal flavors like egg nog and peppermint. Try the pecan or apple pie, which are also available as cupcake flavors.

Jim ‘N Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q

Jim ‘N Nick’s may be known for barbecue, but did you know they also serve up homemade pies made fresh daily? Their selection includes pecan, coconut cream, lemon, peanut butter and chocolate (pictured above). These happy customers could barely stop themselves from taking a forkful before snapping a photo!

Cabarrus Creamery

If you’re just not that into pie, you can still get in on the fun with Moon Pie ice cream at Cabarrus Creamery. This Southern-born sweet treat features graham cracker, marshmallow and chocolate and pairs perfectly with rich, homemade ice cream. Or try key lime pie and butter pecan, which, in our opinion, totally count.
