The latest place to throw back a cold one in Cabarrus County, NC is Twenty-Six Acres Brewing Company!
Run by three Cabarrus natives, Twenty- Six Acres opened to the public in the Fall of 2016. The larger Charlotte region’s craft brewery boom has spawned dozens of breweries, first in the heart of Charlotte and then moving up I-77 and I-85.
Twenty-Six Acres and its beers are deeply rooted in local history. The brewery itself is named after the fact that Concord was first founded on 26 acres of land in 1796. The site was mapped out in 1795 by N.C. House Speaker Stephen Cabarrus after local German and Scots-Irish settlers could not agree on a location. Keeping with the theme, two of its flagship beers, Corban Ave. Honey Blonde and 26 Union St. Oatmeal Stout, are named after streets in Downtown Concord.
Twenty-Six Acres is 8,700 square feet and sits on the Cabarrus-Mecklenburg border in the middle of the increasingly busy area north of Charlotte. There are no other breweries in this area, which makes it a prime destination given the proximity to some of Cabarrus County’s most notable attractions including Concord Mills, Charlotte Motor Speedway, zMAX Dragway, K1 Speed, Concord Regional Airport and several NASCAR race team shops.
The taproom was designed to be a place for friends and neighbors to gather and relax while enjoying freshly-made local beer. They also regularly have food trucks to provide snacks and unique food fusions. The owners believe in brewing a variety of beers to satisfy every palate at Twenty-Six Acres, which is why you’ll see several changes each month on their tap list. This brewery is dog-friendly so visitors can bring along their four-legged, furry friends.
