The list below includes ideas for at-home entertainment, fun education for kids, healthy activities for the mind and body, and simple things to make you smile. As you bring Cabarrus County to your corner of the world, you’ll also find plenty of inspiration for future travel. Until then, we hope these ideas help you make memories while staying safe at home!

Taste of Cabarrus

If you’re local to Cabarrus County, this list of places to eat providing Curbside, Delivery, Fresh Market or Take Out service will help you fuel up on your favorite dishes while supporting our restaurants and farmers. Be sure to share your mouth-watering food photos using #CurbsideCabCo.

Get a taste of Cabarrus County from afar by ordering local goodies online. Heath’s Cheese Straws and Britt’s Spritz Cookies from Ritchie Hill Bakery are delicious Cabarrus County snacks, and Angel’s Share BBQ Sauce is made right here with Mt. Pleasant’s own local whiskey.

For those over 21, create your own craft cocktail with Southern Grace Distilleries spirits using one of these recipes. Though the distillery has shifted to producing high-proof ethanol for hand sanitizer production, their products are still available for to-go purchases in the gift shop and in several states.

Virtual Vroom

Cabarrus County is “Where Racing Lives” and even though we can’t be together at the racetrack right now, the motorsports community continues to connect.

While the NASCAR industry lends a helping hand in the fight against Coronavirus, competition continues with the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series. Each week, several stars of the NASCAR Cup Series participate in these simulated races and you can catch the virtual action on the Fox broadcast network, FS1 and the Fox Sports app.

Help satisfy your need for speed with a motorsports movie. Did you know “Days of Thunder,” “Speedway” and many other movies were filmed at Charlotte Motor Speedway? The track was also the first motorsports facility to host the world premiere of a major motion picture with the debut of Disney/Pixar’s animated hit, “Cars” in 2006.

Add some horsepower to your homeschool routine! Geared toward students in elementary through high school, the NASCAR Hall of Fame is offering free online learning experiences to keep your kids engaged from home. Looking for an activity the entire family will enjoy? Get creative with drag racing coloring pages available on the NHRA Facebook page.

Fuel for Mind & Body

Keep the creative juices flowing! The Cabarrus Arts Council is offering up inspired ideas for at-home crafts like paintings of dandelions using a dish brush and making masterpieces from foil. Their Facebook page also features watch parties for live performances and local musicians singing to say thanks to healthcare heroes.

Great Wolf Lodge is also keeping the family fun going from home! Their pack has compiled ideas on everything from cool science experiments and scavenger hunts to fun bedtime stories and kid-friendly yoga. Keep your family entertained and learning, plus be inspired to start planning for a future stay.

Staying active is especially important during this time of quarantine. Get outside and enjoy Cabarrus County’s parks and greenways while following social distancing guidelines and exercise indoors with Lotus Living Arts. This local studio for yoga, barre, meditation and more is now offering virtual classes via Facebook Live and Zoom. Cabarrus County Active Living & Parks also offers ideas to stay in shape along with interesting facts about the outdoors during their “Nature’s Corner” segments.

Music to Lift Your Mood

As home to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame, we’ve been enjoying the soothing sounds of our state’s favorite artists online.

From participating in live streaming performances benefitting COVID-19 relief to sharing songs with us from their homes, inductees including Fantasia, Steep Canyon Rangers, Eric Church, The Avett Brothers and many others are connecting through song on social media. Grammy-winning R&B artist Anthony Hamilton even partnered with Novant Health to encourage everyone to stay safe and stay home.

As their music helps us all get through this time, continue to check in with and support your favorite North Carolina musicians. For more hometown tunes, enjoy these music videos from Cabarrus County’s own The Avett Brother’s for the hit songs “February Seven” and “High Steppin’”—both filmed right here.

Cabarrus County is known for thrilling racing attractions, family-friendly events, one-of-a-kind shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities and so much more. Along with our hospitality partners, our team is committed to ensuring all aspects of your getaway are enjoyable, memorable and most of all, safe.
