44 Mills Kitchen + Tap

Concord

During the active years of Cabarrus County’s textile industry, 44 textile mills dotted the area. Today, 44 Mills pays tribute to the county’s past with both its name and its menu.

This is one of Concord’s best brunch spots for good reason. Some of the items on the menu were the same items that residents a century ago would’ve enjoyed, including Southern grits and biscuits and gravy. But the chef elevates each with surprises: the chicken and waffles are topped with a honey maple old-fashioned bourbon glaze, and crispy bacon tops the cheese grits. Vegetarians have delicious options here as well.

Tip: Toast to your Sunday brunch with a mimosa flight. You can choose four flavors to brighten your bubbles.

73 & Main

Mt. Pleasant

From 11am-2pm on Sundays, dine on brunch classics like Chicken & Waffles at 73 & Main. This restaurant has deep roots in the local area. It sources its eggs from Green Leaf Farm in Concord and its greens from Spring Lake Family Farms in Albemarle, both of which are dedicated to eco-friendly, sustainable agriculture.

When visiting 73 & Main, choose a seat that matches your mood and your appetite: have brunch on the Old Well Patio. Fuel up on pub fare on the low-key Hosiery Mill Pub side or enjoy elegant entrees in the upscale Mercantile Dining Room. Want another option? You can order from the 73 & Main menu from the patio at Café Lentz — a European-style café next door — if you’re in the mood to dine al fresco.

Tip: 73 & Main is known for its Conviction Bourbon Bread Pudding. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, don’t miss it.

Birritaco

Concord

Indulge in authentic Mexican flavors and new twists with a menu that’s both traditional and inventive. Birritaco is a casual spot just a few minutes away from downtown that’s bright and festive, with murals and string lights. Here, you can enjoy brunch on Saturday and Sunday when you’ll find favorites like breakfast burritos, avocado toast and huevos rancheros. Birritaco’s full menu features surprises, too, like the popular birria pizza.

Tip: If you’re unsure about your margarita choice, you don’t have to decide — get the flight.

Verb Coffee

Concord

No brunch is complete without a great cup of coffee. At Verb, diners can enjoy expertly crafted coffee drinks along with fresh pastries and sweet and savory waffles. Verb focuses on seasonality with an ever-changing menu highlighting fresh flavors and locally sourced ingredients.

Tip: Whether it’s a new food item or limited-edition drink, opt for the seasonal feature.

Hot Box Next Level Kitchen at Southern Strain

Concord

The home base for Hot Box Next Level Kitchen is here in Concord inside Southern Strain Brewing where Sundays mean Jazz Brunch from 11am-2pm. Chef Michael Bowling takes his love of global street food to create a place where you can enjoy scratch-made dishes from around the world, like falafel, quesadillas and salmon cakes. The Brunch Burger is always a great choice and you can check out the latest mouthwatering brunch offerings on their social media channels.

Tip: For brunch, you’ve got to try the deviled eggs topped with candied bacon.

Vortex Bottle Shop

Harrisburg

This is a chill spot for a laid-back Sunday brunch, but fair warning: You’ll have some tough decisions to make here. Along with mimosa flights that pair perfectly with brunch, Vortex Bottle Shop has more than 200 beers from around the world in bottles and cans, 18 taps dedicated to a rotating line of Carolina craft beers and more than 100 bottles of wine. Once you’ve made your beverage choice, you’ll have to choose from a menu of made-to-order, tapas-style foods.

Tip: Start your brunch with the roasted strawberries and whipped feta, drizzled with balsamic and served with crostini.
