As October brings golden leaves, full moons and an unmistakable chill in the air, now is the time for the kind of family fun that’s only here for the fall season.

Pick a Pumpkin at Riverbend Farm – Now-End of October

For the last 16 years, Riverbend Farm in Midland, NC has opened to public during the month October. Bring your own picnic, then take a wagon ride to the pumpkin field and select which one you will take home. A playground, large slides, farm animals and plenty of autumn-themed photo opportunities make this the perfect fall pit stop for the family. Open Monday through Friday from 3:30-6pm, Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 1-6pm in October. Admission is $5.50 ages 2+ and pumpkins are 40 cents per pound. For details, visit RiverbendFarm.com.

Howl-O-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge – Now-End of October

The 84-degree indoor waterpark resort keeps it festive all month long! Plan a ghostly getaway for your family and transform an ordinary vacation into a spooky yet silly adventure. Kannapolis Fall Festival & Outdoor Movie: Monsters. Inc. – Oct 21

Get dressed in your costume and join in on games, treats, candy and more fun at Village Park from 3-6:30pm. Take a spin on the double-decker carousel and Village Park train, open for the last weekend until the Kannapolis Christmas Celebration begins on November 25th. Jack O’Lantern Jaunt Road Race and Fall Festival – Oct 24

Fill the afternoon with outdoor fall fun at Frank Liske Park! Families can take part in free activities including pumpkin carving, relay races, and a costume contest for the best, worst, funniest and most original costumes! Then trade your get-up for running shoes and get going during the Mile Walk/Fun Run at 4:45pm and 5k/8k at 5:15pm. Bonus: Registrants also have access to free mini golf and paddleboat rides! Trick or Treat in the Park – Oct 27

Head to Harrisburg Park with your little ghouls! From 5:30-9pm, everyone in your crew will enjoy games, candy, food, inflatables and costume contests at 6:15pm (age categories 0-2, 3-5, 6-8, and 9-12 years). Be sure to bring $3 per child for access to all activities.

Boo Bash at Concord Mills – Oct 28

Concord Mills is offering spooky good fun for the whole family at the annual Boo Bash event! Shoppers can indulge in a DJ dance party, Halloween crafts and activities in the dining pavilion from 12-2pm. Trick-or-treating will commence directly after the event and will run until 5pm. Participating stores will display a pumpkin in their window.

SEA LIFE A-Scarium – Oct 28-29

Take your little mermaids and pirates to SEA LIFE Aquarium for Halloween activities featuring our friends under the sea. Guests can get up close and personal with the creepiest of creatures in the exclusive Creepy Crawly educational talk, see an underwater pumpkin carving demonstration, show off their outfit in the costume contest, and participate in a haunted scavenger hunt. Downtown Concord Candy Crawl – Oct 31

On Halloween, local merchants along Union Street provide trick-or-treating and family-friendly entertainment in Historic Downtown Concord. Get creative with your costumes and just stroll with your candy bucket! The fun starts at 3pm and ends at 5pm.
