Date Night Inspiration

44 Mills Kitchen + Tap

Throughout its history, Cabarrus County has been home to 44 textile mills, and the name of this restaurant pays homage to that past. But its kitchen also pushes the dining scene into the future with modern twists on Southern classics. While Executive Chef Brian Farrell hails from Ireland and has cooked in leading hotels and restaurants around the world, here he relies on local and regional suppliers to create fresh, simple dishes that pair beautifully with the local beers on the menu.

May we suggest? Livermush croutons to start, and the shrimp and grits.

Gianni’s Trattoria

The recipes at this charming downtown trattoria are classic Italian with a North Carolina twist. Executive Chef Heather Stadler looks to local farms for much of her produce, but she imports items like prosciutto and truffle oil from her favorite suppliers in Italy. The result is a unique experience that sits at the intersection of North Carolina and Europe, blending the best of both worlds.

May we suggest? Vitello Goodinuchi — a stuffed, one-pound, bone-in veal chop.

Hog Heaven

R&R Bar-B-Que

Calling all eastern North Carolina-style barbecue lovers: Welcome home. R&R devotes its restaurant to vinegar-based BBQ. Find pulled pork, ribs, chicken and smoked turkey choices on the menu — as well as some options for non-barbecue eaters, like country ham and burgers.

May we suggest? A BBQ family pack for your whole crew.

The Smoke Pit

Behold the artisans of barbecue. The crew here smokes meats slow and low over local hickory every day. They even butcher their own meat. Be prepared for huge portions, especially if you visit on a Wednesday — that’s when they offer a free extra side dish.

May we suggest? Plate of Texas Brisket with a side (or two) of deviled egg potato salad.

Only in Concord

Havana Carolina Restaurant & Bar

You don’t have to pack your bags for this trip to Cuba. This family-owned-and-operated joint serves up authentic Cuban cuisine, tropical cocktails and live Latin music, meaning you only have to travel to Downtown Concord to experience the rhythm and flavor of Old Havana. Whether you’re gathering with family, going on a date or kicking off a night out with friends, Havana Carolina is the perfect place to find fun — and exciting eats.

May we suggest? Ropa vieja (shredded beef brisket marinated and simmered in homemade criolla sauce and infused with peppers and onions) with a tropical cocktail on the side.

The Speedway Club at Charlotte Motor Speedway

Racing isn’t the only exciting thing happening at the track! This restaurant, located on the sixth floor of the Smith Tower, offers a dining experience like no other. Enjoy your meal while gazing at an amazing view of the superspeedway. Reservations are required, so make sure to call ahead.

May we suggest? Grilled pork tenderloin with apple and broccoli pilaf.

Coming Soon

Gibson Mill Market

Gibson Mill is a century-old textile mill entering a new chapter as a community hub where all are welcome to enjoy its craft breweries, escape room, board game cafe and shops.

Very soon, a food hall will open here as well.

At Gibson Mill Market, Concord favorites including Churn Buddies Ice Cream and Johnny Roger’s BBQ & Burgers (winner of the inaugural Cabarrus Burger Madness competition!) will sit alongside brand-new spots to satisfy every appetite. Whether you and your group have a taste for tacos, barbecue, seafood, Asian cuisine, cookies or coffee, you’ll find it here. It’s a place where you can make a day of it — you can eat, shop and play, all under one roof.

May we suggest? One of everything.
