Whether you want to spend a few days celebrating the nation’s independence or a few hours at a fireworks show, Cabarrus County has you covered. This year, Mt. Pleasant kicks off the festivities on June 24 and more 4th of July celebrations follow providing plenty of time to celebrate Independence Day throughout the area.

Downtown Mt. Pleasant

The town of Mt. Pleasant is kicking off Cabarrus County’s 4th of July festivities in June! On the Saturday before the holiday weekend, visit Mt. Pleasant to enjoy an exciting array of happenings.

The Independence Day Celebration includes a parade, music from DJ Eric Bowman and, of course, fireworks. The event also features “A Taste of Mount Pleasant,” which showcases the town’s local restaurants, and a live performance by the band too MUCH SyLviA.

Harrisburg July 4th Celebration

This town’s annual Independence Day event is so big that it spans two days (and has a reputation as one of the most well-attended 4th of July festivals in the region). Harrisburg is celebrating 50 Years in 2023 and this is the 26th year for the popular annual event.

The Harrisburg July 4th Celebration starts at 4 pm on Monday, July 3 when Harrisburg Park opens for amusements. The day includes rides and games plus live music from Sister Hazel at 7:30pm and and fireworks at 9:30pm. On July 4, Harrisburg kicks off Independence Day with a parade that runs along Highway 49 and features bands, floats, tractors and special honors for military veterans and their families. Then, head back to Harrisburg Park for more fun and live performances including a concert from Generation Radio at 8pm.

Atrium Health Ballpark

Celebrate the red, white and blue at a baseball game. On July 4th, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, the Single-A affiliate for the Chicago White Sox, take the field against the Down East Wood Ducks at Atrium Health Ballpark. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

After cheering on the home team and snapping selfies with the Cannon Ballers’ mascot, Boomer, stay in your stadium seats and enjoy the fireworks.

The Independence Day Celebration, presented by Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, features a colorful display of fireworks to celebrate the national holiday. It’s the stadium’s largest fireworks spectacular of the season.

Charlotte Motor Speedway

Head over to Charlotte Motor Speedway to experience racing action with 4th of July flair! Celebrating its 30th Anniversary season, this family-friendly event showcases the future stars of racing as they speed around the frontstretch quarter-mile track in Legend Cars and Bandoleros.

As part of a double-header of racing and fun, “America’s Home for Racing” will light up the night on Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 as fans enjoy back-to-back nights of grassroots racing, games, giveaways and fireworks! This huge display at the legendary speedway has become one of the area’s most popular Fourth of July traditions.

Kids 12 and under get are admitted free both nights. Monday is “Dad Vibes” night when fathers with three or more kids get in free. On Tuesday, all First Responders and Military get in free with a valid ID and fans will enjoy a Hero’s Parade plus fireworks to follow on Red, White & Brews night.
